Republic of Mali delegation Visits Mutobo DC

On Thursday, 18th January 2024, a delegation of nine individuals from the Republic of Mali, currently on a study tour in Rwanda, paid a visit to the Mutobo demobilisation centre situated in Musanze District. Their primary aim was to glean insights from Rwanda's Demobilisation and Reintegration Programme, particularly focusing on mobilisation and reintegration initiatives.

Mali has grappled with conflict since January 2012, when tensions arose between the northern and southern regions of the country in Africa. Consequently, Mali has established a commission dedicated to reintegrating disengaged combatants back into their communities.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by the Commissioners of RDRC and given a comprehensive tour of the demobilisation centre. They expressed admiration for Mutobo's pivotal role in demobilising ex-combatants and the diverse skills training provided through a TVET school. This training encompasses various disciplines such as construction and masonry, crop and animal husbandry, and tailoring.

Rwanda and Mali enjoy a close collaboration, partaking in a South-South exchange of knowledge and technical expertise. The Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission have been welcoming delegations from across the globe, facilitating study tours to glean insights from Rwanda's extensive experience in this field.
