RDRC welcomes Ambassador of Sweden to Rwanda in his visit to Mutobo DC

The quiet hills of Mutobo Demobilisation Centre told a powerful story yesterday, 11 February 2026, as the RDRC Chairperson Valérie Nyirahabineza welcomed the Ambassador of Sweden to Rwanda, Dag Sjöögren, and his delegation. The meeting opened with a clear picture of Rwanda’s approach to peacebuilding: a mandate rooted in demobilising former fighters and guiding them, step by step, back into civilian life with dignity.

The story deepened as the delegation was taken through Rwanda’s reintegration journey and met former FDLR combatants now undergoing demobilisation at Mutobo. Part of Intake 76, these men spoke not in the language of war, but of safety rediscovered, dignity restored and hope reborn after voluntarily leaving armed groups in the forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Listening to their testimonies, the Ambassador commended the work being done at Mutobo, describing the visit as deeply rewarding and wishing the team every success in what he called an important mission.
