RDRC Staff Reaffirm Commitment to Improving Service Delivery and Institutional Excellence

From 07 to 08 May 2026, staff members of the Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RDRC) convened in a General Staff Meeting to assess strategies aimed at improving services delivered to former combatants and other beneficiaries under the Commission’s mandate.

The meeting focused on strengthening efficient service delivery systems that prevent beneficiaries from unnecessary delays while ensuring professionalism and accountability across the institution.

Opening the meeting, the Chairperson of RDRC, Hon. NYIRAHABINEZA Valerie, urged staff members to remain committed to their duties, uphold professionalism, and continue accelerating service delivery for former combatants and all beneficiaries served by the Commission.

She stated: “Let us continue to work with integrity, teamwork, and a strong commitment to quality service delivery. Together, we can build an institution characterised by strong values, good governance, and sustainable development that prioritises the wellbeing of those we serve.”

During the meeting, staff members attended presentations aimed at enhancing service delivery and improving workplace efficiency. The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate Labour Day and recognise outstanding employee for their exemplary performance.

In a presentation titled “Working Together to Promote Development, Increase Job Creation, and Strengthen Domestic Economic Resilience,” Hon. GATABAZI JMV, Commissioner at RDRC, reminded staff that professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability remain essential pillars of public service.

He noted: “Knowledge is important, but even more important is valuing the trust and responsibility entrusted to us so that we can deliver meaningful results.”

Discussions and exchanges during the meeting generated practical strategies aimed at improving the quality, efficiency, and responsiveness of services offered by the Commission.

Staff members also elected the Occupational Health and Safety Committee and filled vacant positions within the institution’s Disciplinary Committee to further strengthen institutional governance and workplace standards.

The meeting additionally reviewed pending activities under the 2025–2026 fiscal year action plan, which is approaching completion within the next two months.

As part of recognising excellence, Mr DUKUNDANE A. Edouard, IT Help Desk Officer at RDRC, was awarded as the best-performing staff member.

In her closing remarks, Hon. NYIRAHABINEZA Valerie thanked all staff members for their dedication and particularly congratulated employee who received awards for outstanding performance.

She encouraged all staff to continue serving as role models in public service and institutional values.

The next planned activity will be the 32nd Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, during which repatriated beneficiaries formerly associated with FDLR and currently attending reintegration courses at Mutobo Demobilisation Centre will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum at the Parliament of Rwanda.
